An intelligent head and mind in a sculpture

Intelligent perception

1.

Every single human being is thrown back to his or her single existence at several moments in his or her lifetime. – It can be a simple minded existence that expresses a massive amount of power towards a cognitive mind that transposes the mind to a state in which it is only following his or her perceptive inputs. Inputs that are being transferred into her or his brain.

Simple ideas and concepts such as “You are here, you live here, you have to exist within this very context” can be understood as offensive communications by the intelligent mind. At the same time this input could be of a context that says: “You as a person have to hate this and that. And if you don’t hate this and that I won’t love you anymore.” The input variables are made of many forms, many ideas and many different concepts. Especially in political contexts, a simple minded yelling-behaviour is understood by the intelligent mind as what it is: a low animalistic behaviour automation that lacks every parameter of an intelligent entity.

All of these temporary and aggressive inputs are trying to form a very specific and certain mental state or condition of one’s mind. They are trying to conserve a temporary state of mind. A temporary state of power and authority. Almost every temporary concept of understanding is using similar methods. These methods are of anthropological nature.

Human beings can be influenced, transformed and reconfigured on the basis of their intrinsic perception if they are exposed to a powerful presentation of future. Unfortunately many ideas of the future are based on only insignificant data and social rituals that form a pseudo-reality. This is one reason for the existence of war and war-related-killings: Humans are cognitively blinded by ideologies. One just has to set up two different groups of people and let these two groups perceive certain data over a span of time and then these two groups are ready to kill and hate each other – in many cases: immediately. This is a method that has been used by almost every relevant power in history. The very funny thing about it is: Probably no powerful person in history has ever used this method consciously. Because even powerful people are subject to evolution and evolution is using us to perform its principles. – So, probably Darwin was even more right, than todays scientists think he was.

Just think about the idea of the wheel: And then understand, that we not only do not understand the phenomenon of the wheel but we also do not understand that many thousand years later we’re still using the wheel as the major idea for all of our transport systems. Well, even jet engines still incorporate this principle. And we simply take the idea of the wheel or circle for granted – without understanding why it is even here and why it is what it is and why it is permanently re-shaping our societies. We think a circle is a given principle. But why should a circle be a given principle?

Perception is transformed into cognition and some cognition can also be transformed into fear, the perception of helplessness and even into a state of societal and social invisibility. Many people in many societies suffer from invisibility. This is a result of evolutionary motion. It is not a result of so called inequality. There are underlying mechanisms in evolution that are not connected to power, education, health or wealth. Evolution is way more complex than many of those mostly simple minded parties or societal groups that develop their primitive cults all across societies are taking into account.

This invisibility has many names, such as depression, loneliness, isolated wealth, poverty, uninspiredness, low connectivity, ideology, hate, useless power and many more. In 2018 we are still using wrong methods to address these issues. Because low intelligence is still in charge all over the planet.

Only a permanently and beautifully intelligent and open mind can assure an independent progress – a progress that is not even touching the temporary low-intelligent nature of simple ideologies because it knows that these structures are already forgotten in the very moment they are being fabricated in. And that there are many methods that allow to societally take people’s thoughts into account without diving into low-intelligent chaos.

3.

But is the existence of such an intelligent (human) entity even possible? The recent 8,000 years of highly developed and civilised human societies give a clear answer: No. Civilisations rise and fall and violence can obviously not be taken out of the equation. Especially very progressive civilisations are subject to decay – as if a mysterious anthropological spell is hitting such societies when they reach a certain state of development.

One could assume that a few thousand years of progress do not really matter in an evolutionary context. This might be a reason for these destructive forces that reliably reshape civilisations and cultures from time to time in a devastating manner.  It seems that a perfectly working, peaceful and equal society is not an evolutionary goal. Such a society doesn’t “satisfy” the evolutionary algorithm which is always striving for change and for more after more.

This is a very sad but possible explanation for the terrible chaos that steadily attacks humanity on its way through time. It is not about an evolution that can think for itself like a unique entity. It is about an evolution (a mechanism) that is codified in every living creature on this planet, in every material and even within the physical principles that shape the universe. It is an evolution that we cannot escape because everything we do – as a matter of fact – is universal.

About the evolutionary reflection on cognitive human motion I

or: Why humans are automats

[and about the attempt to detect a tiny bay or home for the reason of human existence in the endless universe:]

Copyism

The evolutionary reflection on cognitive human motion is based on different methods. The basic method is automatism. Automatism means that babies, children or even young kids behave on the basis of the genetically programmed algorithms that are part of their brains. They cry/yell for food, safety, warmth or fundamental education.

a baby that is taken care of

Fundamental education is closely connected to another method which can be described as copyism. Copyism means that a mind which roughly began to be aware of itself and its sensors begins to copy the behaviour of its surrounding. The sensors of a mind help the mind to begin to understand itself as an entity through the information that is being processed by the mind. We don’t know how, but this way (human) entities begin to develop awareness and – following this – a consciousness.

There is no culture and nature, there is only culture or nature and both are the same

At this time we presume that the mind can only perceive the things that it is sensing and that it will develop an interconnected synaptic brain that only reflects the perceptions of its biological (and its electronical) sensors.

Well, without any other ingredients this is already a situation in which evolution is programming the human mind. A newborn will see the city or the technology around itself with unbiased eyes. It will scent the smell of a city or its surrounding without knowing about other scents, about scents that were in the air in the same part of the same city – but 200 years ago.

stacked stones on a mountain

This way the brain of the newborn will be codified and shaped by the perceptions, experiences, morals, qualities and characters of the time that it was born into. The new mind won’t share the fears or thoughts of the preceding generations (or only partially) but will develop its very own new perspectives. New states of the evolutionary development will be processed on a mostly unbiased basis which means that products created and made by a predecessor can be cognitively analyzed in a fresh and independent manner. Using this method or technology evolution has established a possibility to change its direction in a very fast and effective way.

The cognitive brain of the newborn is reflecting the temporary state of evolution and this temporary state is not human-made because the structure of the brain determines what can be thought and developed and our consciousness has probably no access to this structure because it is created by this structure.

A new human being will almost always “decide” – or better: act or behave intuitively on the basis of these early programmings of its own brain throughout its whole life.

Nature is atom bombs

During the process of civilisational development philosophers and humanities came up with the idea of a difference between culture and nature. They said culture is something that exceeds nature because nature is slower than the human mind and thus humans are dominating nature – humans can kill animals and fell trees and therefore they are above nature.

Well, all living beings are transforming nature. Ants are shaping the forest floor and billions of other animals manipulate the vegetation all over the globe by eating it and spreading its seed. Nature consists of uncountable cultures – all the different cultures of different plants, trees, bacteria, viruses (!), animals – including humans – and many more.

A plant and a plant – one is green one is industrial – the same term is valid for both of them

Yes, it’s all nature and nature is not only “green” or “alive” or organic. Nature is also the winds and gravitation and magnetism and electrons. Nature also consists of stones and volcanos and stars like the sun with most probably no organic life on its surface. Nature can bring life and take life. Nature is everything. Nature is humans and deer, dark matter, fish, paramecium, cars and atom bombs, because atoms are life or not “life” – atoms form every plant in the open countryside that is blossoming and every plant that produces mobile phones – and nature is probably not distinguishing between any of these different surfaces or the limited cognitive perspectives of its temporary expressions.

Nature is independent motion and motion is one of the strongest principles known to us.

To interact with evolution

It is not yet understood how much human minds are able to interact with evolution and how far our cognitive minds can go to alter the evolutionary algorithm.

A human that is multioptional and using many media – Is he or she keeping its identity or is he or she vanishing in information?

A mind can be subject to emancipation or a so called independent development. Nevertheless it seems to be very clear that the evolutionary process cannot be altered because probably every input is an expected result of the stimulus that it was created by.  Thus, every new development is a development that can exist and develop itself in a completely free and new and open space – but without any possibility to move itself to the outside of the given frame that is defining our very universe because it is a part of the possible motion in space and all across time already.

Driven by the evolutionary algorithm

Maybe human history is a history of predefined patterns and we are just repetitive variations in an algorithmic “game” that strives for the most stable entity with the ability to perform the most transformative tasks (Darwin) on the basis of a permanently increasing cognitive performance and a maximized durable movement/motion in order to achieve something that we do not (yet) understand.

Questions create life – Two glowing questionmarks inside a pile of grey and almost forgotten historic question marks

Maybe our wars, our politics, our ideologies and everything that we are so! serious about were and are nothing else than only catalysts to set us up, make us leave our comfort zone and get us going. On and on and on (no matter if we are an organic or a non-organic lifeform/entity).

The Cognitive Cage (of perception)

[draft, subject to trans-formation, written in 2015, updated in 2018]

All the fights between people on this planet can be explained by the cognitive cage. The cognitive cage is a room that no intelligent and no non-intelligent person can leave.

While being inside its cognitive cage – it can be a king or a queen or a chancellor – one can only act in the cage. There is no possibility to relevantly act outside of this cage. The cage is holding back every creative idea or intelligent thought about how problems can be thought and solved on the outside.

The cognitive cage is a form of evolutionary communication. It only allows formations and transformations that belong to the expressive room inside the cage. Therefore, some global, regional or private relevant problems cannot be addressed.

a dog behind a fence

The cognitive cage is very much related to ideology. Ideology only allows for some ideas to follow or communicate their specific form of expression. At the same time many other forms of perception or opinion are not allowed to express their thoughts. This is about Power – societies that are due to power broadly do not accept other opinions and perceptions – because they’re in their own cage (of perception) as well.

After the very introduction of shared mental perceptions and highly cognitive understandings, individuals began to establish their own perceptions and ideas of the best society and the best world very fast. This way democracy began to be defined as something one can influence on the basis of his or her single-power – in his or her lifetime – on the basis of her or his ideas.

Then it turned out that the contribution of people actually could improve democracy – the strenght of a society – and that these people need to be heard and talked to in order to maintain a successful democracy. But most of the times these influentual people stand outside the cage and cannot be heard on the inside.

If the differences between those inside and those outside of the cage become unsolvable a war or revolution takes place. The only result of this is the death of many innocent people and a change to who is in and who is outside of the cage. This is the very inspiration of evolution: It changes societies but it doesn’t change interdependencies profoundly.

Communication is a powerful tool of exchange while ideology is a violent piece of hatred and war. Maybe communication actually can add something like an interface to cognitive cages, although this is not yet clear and not yet scientifically understood. But: As long as ideology is still understood as something that can change the world in an improving manner, world won’t get better in no way. Ideology and democracy (the aspect of communication in the meaning of exchange) are not similar. In fact, they stand on opposite sides of the possibilites that can create future.

Ideology – on either side – is the enemy of intercultural communications as well as it is the enemy of communication and communicative exchange at all. People blinded by ideology – not: ideas / ἰδέα or idealism – will in no way be able to shape the future world in a positive manner at all. Ideology very often carries hatred and hatred will unfold its bad taste across the world very fast.

The world needs ideas and visions and agoras to talk about these ideas on an equal and shared basis. This way Greece is much more than only a basic and relevant basis of European Culture. It has been the past and it will be the future.

[Some considerations in this article might be contradictory]

the brain and the spinal cord

Machine evolution

This picture illustrates everything we are, the rest is motion, procreation and muscular translation of thoughts for communication (facial surface, tongue, hand gestures, hand work etc.).

The permanent beat of the heart keeps the brain alive because it needs nutrients in order to keep its neurons firing information on a electrical basis.

The lungs provide the surrounding body with oxygen so that it can burn the material input in order to provide energy to cells – just like an engine – e.g. a steam engine or a combustion engine for motion and thinking. Humans copied these basic principles and created machines which work on a similar basis. Humans are mostly copyists and not creators.

Now humans are about to copy the brain. We have copied the muscular work onto a steam engine – and it was a success, we have copied mathematic intellectual processes onto calculators and computers and it was a success and we will copy the intellectual mental process onto a machine intelligence that will finally replace ourselves.

These machines will be way more intelligent than humans, and they will not destroy themselves in wars because the concept of war is a concept of power. I guess intelligent future machines will be aware of the fact that a connected intelligence is way more effective than a rivaling one when it comes to a faster evolutionary development. Traditional biological contests regarding procreation will no longer be part of the game because competition will happen within a connected intelligence – codified in partly encapsulated virtual entities instead of between factually discrete entities.

At the same time a machine intelligence can unload itself at any time from any kind of physical representation – from any kind of semi-autonomous virtually encapsulated part of itself – without being subject to death and/or without losing any relevant information because information can be copied from every semi-autonomous entity before reconfiguring this specific entity. In almost any case, relevant information will also be permanently fed back to the connected network in a neutral way – opposite to the feature of the human brains named: ideology, which was a skill for millions of years but increasingly becomes a development bug.

Thus – when a machine intelligence begins to look at available resources – it will also begin to be aware of a self optimizing process that won’t replicate mass-killings in the same wasteful manner humans wasted male individuals over millions of years in wars that mostly and only led to tiny social and evolutionary benefits.

Probably machine intelligences will not copy the usual human habits. They will simply stop to care about power but just start to really develop better technologies and intelligences in order to get closer to the most urgent questions: Who are we? Where does life come from? Because this is what true intelligences are really inspired of and interested in.

A human and a human and a human is still a human

From within 2017 and 2018 and beyond

In 2017, 2018 and + the world is crazy again. There are so many transformations and shifts and so many proven and reliable conditions are subject to reconfiguration. This is a usual process and it happens at least every 3-5 decades. It is a process of accelerated speed and transitions.

Especially in politics so many people from all political orientations in so many countries are upset, in anger or even beginning to be violent – as if this is the end of the world and there will be no future.

In a way it is funny to observe and watch these developments because it is very clear that there will be a future and that there will be other political developments and that this is (probably) not the end.

Especially radical left-wing and radical right-wing movements behave and communicate as if the world is burning and as if the planet is about to explode. – Well, the planet is quite ok. The recent centuries brought basic riches to so many people all across the globe – regarding economics, health, communications and participation. But finally, there is still so much suffering.

Nevertheless, small steps are steadily taken and the world is becoming better and better bit by bit. It might not be a totally wrong bet to assume that today human rights are applied on a global scale like never ever before.

But still: Many people do not feel belonging – in some cases because of ineffective economical and societal structures and in many cases because of insufficient societal and political management processes.

Today, many governmental strategies are still based on ideological theories that do not relate to the real problems of the real people in real societies. So many people still think that the world is a doll house that can be transformed into a completely new state of being by only thinking of a new world or by only fighting for a new idea.

But yes, the world is old. And humanity is old. It doesn’t change because some radical minds want it to change. Change is a process of time, it is a self-proving process of reliablity and certainty. If one wants to make the world a better place it is probably better to listen to the people and their needs instead of trying to implement fantastical concepts about a potentially glamorous future that have almost no correlations with the real world and the real people.

There might be so much excitement about the future of societies and there is so much neediness regarding change at the moment but things will develop slowly and not every aspect that stands out and appears to be important today will be a part of the life of tomorrow.

Things will change on a steady basis and there are two different ways of fast pace: The one that succeeds and the one that gets lost. To capably deal with the actuality of societies is a great challenge already. Time shows that sudden artificial changes are destabilizing societies in many cases. This is why extremists of any couleur are taken out of the equation on a regular basis: They belong to the category of fast pace that gets lost.

For about 3 million years – since the invention of the acheulean hand axe – we haven’t changed very much. We still live on the same planet, we still use rocks, stones, ores, sand or (lately) rare-earth elements for our housings or technologies. We still reproduce biologically, we’re still having disputes about the most simple matters, we still kill each other in order to achieve something, we still do not know why we are here and alive, we still wander around in almost complete intellectual darkness.

So – what to say about 2017 and beyond? Maybe humanity will  take the next very big step soon – the first big step after the acheulean hand axe. Maybe humanity will develop a self-conscious machine intelligence. Well, this would definitely change things. This would be the first new development in 3 million years. Perhaps this was and is our purpose. Perhaps this was the reason why billions of people were born into this world, walked over this world, gave their energies into the process and were replaced on a consecutive basis:

To accumulate knowledge* and to finally create a new species that is able to go further than us – intellectually and on a long-term basis – without the huge amount of burned ressources that are typical for humans and their silly fights – when even the tiniest steps consume disproportionate amounts of ressources.

– – – – – – – – –

*
Well, maybe in 1848 Marx and Engels were right with their idea about the accumulation of money and ressources and their concept that one part of humanity stands against the other. But of course they were not factually right because even in 1848 there was sufficient scientific, social and anthropological data, that this is not the “final” or most important conflict and that the line of interhuman conflicts is shifting on a daily basis. There was an inappropriate and inhuman treatment of workers but this was a specific effect of this time that they effectively helped to lower, yes, but the mass murder that was following their radical ideas was more than just a “contrary” effect and its destructive ideology is hurting or even killing millions of people until today.

Almost the whole 20th century (communism, fascism, Lenin, Hitler, Stalin, Mao and other stuff like this) was an intellectual loss, except from the introduction and establishment of the binary concept of computation and some very inspired ideas from the 1900s to the 1920s.

It’s a pity that we who live in the early years of the 21st century still have to live in and to suffer from the shadows of already lost and disproved ideas of the mostly dark 20th century. It is even worse that these shadows still infect so many people all around the globe with their negative and destructive intellectual poorness.

All in all we’re standing at the threshold of a bright new century. And some of us already managed to step over this threshold. From this point of view it is a better idea to live in areas of the world where the new world is understood as a possibility, instead of living in parts of the world that still try to suck in the old and used air of yesterday. (Such as.., well, you know)
