Truth, fake news, power, abuse and responsibility in time

Ok,

every person wakes up on one special day. Her or his consciousness begins to see the world with new eyes. Before the wake-up-process every human entity is subject to learning and listening but suddenly his or her mind begins to analyze things differently.

The mind begins to see things more clearly and understands that not every “truth” that hits the mind is actually true but only an opinion expressed by a temporary entity of expression. The mind understands that these people who try to tell you something can be wrong because it’s only their opinion. – And that it doesn’t matter if they belong to a huge corporation or institution because the fact that social entities or institutions are rich or big is not a proof that they are true and intelligent.

Of course such false information one is confronted with is less likely to come from sciences like physics or math than from fields which are much more subject to interpretation, ideology and subjectivity – such as politics, humanities or their derivatives like the popular press or media which – today – only and in very rare cases have the cognitive abilities to perform the tasks they are pretending to perform.

Fake News

Fake news are as old as humanity. These news have always been a usual tool of misinformation in order to achieve strategical goals. They were used by all parties that were involved in a conflict at all times. And in many cases the one who loudly shouts out “Fake!” is a propagator of misinformation oneself.

The term “Fake News” is something that we know from all those extinct kingdoms, as a form of manipulation used in all these wars humankind went through. Sometimes it’s the way old-fashioned intelligences that are not able to modify or transform their concepts of thinking use to helplessly express their forlornness in time. Sometimes it’s used by people who want to enforce new societal concepts to trick people into certain forms of behaviour or thinking.

That this term and the concept of this term is propagated so intensively over the recent years and today is an indicator that global political balance has become a little more instable. It is an indicator that things are subject to change and that traditional certainties regarding political systems, power distribution, alliances or stability are subject to reconfiguration.

Undoubtedly this is a form of evolutionary driven transformation based on massive technological revolutions and limited cognitive abilities of humans to moderate such periods of heavy shifts.

Thus, to shout “Fake!” is not only a form of manipulation but also a very strong indicator of helplessness. And if you begin to need to use this term as an argument, your own concept for the future may be pulpy and instable as well.

A tiger and People who don't know about themselves

The Cognitive Cage (of perception)

[draft, subject to trans-formation, written in 2015, updated in 2018]

All the fights between people on this planet can be explained by the cognitive cage. The cognitive cage is a room that no intelligent and no non-intelligent person can leave.

While being inside its cognitive cage – it can be a king or a queen or a chancellor – one can only act in the cage. There is no possibility to relevantly act outside of this cage. The cage is holding back every creative idea or intelligent thought about how problems can be thought and solved on the outside.

The cognitive cage is a form of evolutionary communication. It only allows formations and transformations that belong to the expressive room inside the cage. Therefore, some global, regional or private relevant problems cannot be addressed.

a dog behind a fence

The cognitive cage is very much related to ideology. Ideology only allows for some ideas to follow or communicate their specific form of expression. At the same time many other forms of perception or opinion are not allowed to express their thoughts. This is about Power – societies that are due to power broadly do not accept other opinions and perceptions – because they’re in their own cage (of perception) as well.

After the very introduction of shared mental perceptions and highly cognitive understandings, individuals began to establish their own perceptions and ideas of the best society and the best world very fast. This way democracy began to be defined as something one can influence on the basis of his or her single-power – in his or her lifetime – on the basis of her or his ideas.

Then it turned out that the contribution of people actually could improve democracy – the strenght of a society – and that these people need to be heard and talked to in order to maintain a successful democracy. But most of the times these influentual people stand outside the cage and cannot be heard on the inside.

If the differences between those inside and those outside of the cage become unsolvable a war or revolution takes place. The only result of this is the death of many innocent people and a change to who is in and who is outside of the cage. This is the very inspiration of evolution: It changes societies but it doesn’t change interdependencies profoundly.

Communication is a powerful tool of exchange while ideology is a violent piece of hatred and war. Maybe communication actually can add something like an interface to cognitive cages, although this is not yet clear and not yet scientifically understood. But: As long as ideology is still understood as something that can change the world in an improving manner, world won’t get better in no way. Ideology and democracy (the aspect of communication in the meaning of exchange) are not similar. In fact, they stand on opposite sides of the possibilites that can create future.

Ideology – on either side – is the enemy of intercultural communications as well as it is the enemy of communication and communicative exchange at all. People blinded by ideology – not: ideas / ἰδέα or idealism – will in no way be able to shape the future world in a positive manner at all. Ideology very often carries hatred and hatred will unfold its bad taste across the world very fast.

The world needs ideas and visions and agoras to talk about these ideas on an equal and shared basis. This way Greece is much more than only a basic and relevant basis of European Culture. It has been the past and it will be the future.

[Some considerations in this article might be contradictory]

A human and a human and a human is still a human

From within 2017 and 2018 and beyond

In 2017, 2018 and + the world is crazy again. There are so many transformations and shifts and so many proven and reliable conditions are subject to reconfiguration. This is a usual process and it happens at least every 3-5 decades. It is a process of accelerated speed and transitions.

Especially in politics so many people from all political orientations in so many countries are upset, in anger or even beginning to be violent – as if this is the end of the world and there will be no future.

In a way it is funny to observe and watch these developments because it is very clear that there will be a future and that there will be other political developments and that this is (probably) not the end.

Especially radical left-wing and radical right-wing movements behave and communicate as if the world is burning and as if the planet is about to explode. – Well, the planet is quite ok. The recent centuries brought basic riches to so many people all across the globe – regarding economics, health, communications and participation. But finally, there is still so much suffering.

Nevertheless, small steps are steadily taken and the world is becoming better and better bit by bit. It might not be a totally wrong bet to assume that today human rights are applied on a global scale like never ever before.

But still: Many people do not feel belonging – in some cases because of ineffective economical and societal structures and in many cases because of insufficient societal and political management processes.

Today, many governmental strategies are still based on ideological theories that do not relate to the real problems of the real people in real societies. So many people still think that the world is a doll house that can be transformed into a completely new state of being by only thinking of a new world or by only fighting for a new idea.

But yes, the world is old. And humanity is old. It doesn’t change because some radical minds want it to change. Change is a process of time, it is a self-proving process of reliablity and certainty. If one wants to make the world a better place it is probably better to listen to the people and their needs instead of trying to implement fantastical concepts about a potentially glamorous future that have almost no correlations with the real world and the real people.

There might be so much excitement about the future of societies and there is so much neediness regarding change at the moment but things will develop slowly and not every aspect that stands out and appears to be important today will be a part of the life of tomorrow.

Things will change on a steady basis and there are two different ways of fast pace: The one that succeeds and the one that gets lost. To capably deal with the actuality of societies is a great challenge already. Time shows that sudden artificial changes are destabilizing societies in many cases. This is why extremists of any couleur are taken out of the equation on a regular basis: They belong to the category of fast pace that gets lost.

For about 3 million years – since the invention of the acheulean hand axe – we haven’t changed very much. We still live on the same planet, we still use rocks, stones, ores, sand or (lately) rare-earth elements for our housings or technologies. We still reproduce biologically, we’re still having disputes about the most simple matters, we still kill each other in order to achieve something, we still do not know why we are here and alive, we still wander around in almost complete intellectual darkness.

So – what to say about 2017 and beyond? Maybe humanity will  take the next very big step soon – the first big step after the acheulean hand axe. Maybe humanity will develop a self-conscious machine intelligence. Well, this would definitely change things. This would be the first new development in 3 million years. Perhaps this was and is our purpose. Perhaps this was the reason why billions of people were born into this world, walked over this world, gave their energies into the process and were replaced on a consecutive basis:

To accumulate knowledge* and to finally create a new species that is able to go further than us – intellectually and on a long-term basis – without the huge amount of burned ressources that are typical for humans and their silly fights – when even the tiniest steps consume disproportionate amounts of ressources.

– – – – – – – – –

*
Well, maybe in 1848 Marx and Engels were right with their idea about the accumulation of money and ressources and their concept that one part of humanity stands against the other. But of course they were not factually right because even in 1848 there was sufficient scientific, social and anthropological data, that this is not the “final” or most important conflict and that the line of interhuman conflicts is shifting on a daily basis. There was an inappropriate and inhuman treatment of workers but this was a specific effect of this time that they effectively helped to lower, yes, but the mass murder that was following their radical ideas was more than just a “contrary” effect and its destructive ideology is hurting or even killing millions of people until today.

Almost the whole 20th century (communism, fascism, Lenin, Hitler, Stalin, Mao and other stuff like this) was an intellectual loss, except from the introduction and establishment of the binary concept of computation and some very inspired ideas from the 1900s to the 1920s.

It’s a pity that we who live in the early years of the 21st century still have to live in and to suffer from the shadows of already lost and disproved ideas of the mostly dark 20th century. It is even worse that these shadows still infect so many people all around the globe with their negative and destructive intellectual poorness.

All in all we’re standing at the threshold of a bright new century. And some of us already managed to step over this threshold. From this point of view it is a better idea to live in areas of the world where the new world is understood as a possibility, instead of living in parts of the world that still try to suck in the old and used air of yesterday. (Such as.., well, you know)

On Human Intelligence I

Or why intelligence doesn’t mean understanding

The difficulty of the term intelligence

There are more than just a few definitions of what intelligence might be. One thing is for sure: Intelligence is closely connected to evolution. No evolution, no intelligence. This may sound simple but it is not simple at all. To understand intelligence one has to understand progress, transformation, reconfiguration and: evolution.

Some scientists say that pure organic life as itself is intelligence. You can’t deny this. A survivable lifeform has to be of at least some intelligence even if it is not able to consciously sense  this intelligence itself – like e.g. the paramecium. These lifeforms are able to re-act / respond to external stimuli and can change their internal structure according to these stimuli, they even can move to a certain direction after the stimulus although they are in no way able to understand why they are behaving like this. They are not aware of themselves or the reason behind their actions; the simple sensory / chemical “satisfaction” is strong enough to reconfigure their everything. They act intelligently but not consciously. Thus, some biological lifeforms can be addressed as intelligent while at the same time they can be addressed as being totally stupid.

Human Intelligence

All of these simple lifeforms – like all lifeforms – are subject to external stimuli and there is no species and no kind which is not reacting to the processes taking place in their environment.

A kind of dinosaur | Eine Art Dinosaurier

There is something like an automated behaviour implemented into every neural system and every cognitive system which influences every single biological species and entity present on earth. – One reason why evolution as the relevant process that is permanently transforming the infrastructure of neural systems is closely connected to what we call intelligence.

In many ways human understanding of processes here on earth is based on a system of relevant truths that is based on a system of a stable structure of reliable chemical interrelations.

Probably since the very beginning of such a thing as civilization we are living with a very stout reference system of hierarchies, biographical traditions, daily conventions and the thought that this must be the ongoing process of the world. Apparently, this was the most comfortable idea of understanding that our anchestors were able to deal with regarding the unknown and the very often very strange idea of life and the permanently evolving material and social environments they became aware of.

And this probably is why some members of the group of responsible and intellectual thinkers came up with the idea of “the universe” – a structure or infrastructure which consists of everything that happens, everything that exists and everything that is going on – a space in which everything that can be thought and everything that can be experienced lives and exists in.

A tree, the moon, the universe

Even many centuries after the shaping of the very basic ideas of intelligence, laws, the organisation of social systems and the establishment of arts and communications, humans still keep the very basic forms of (animalistic) organizational intersubjectivity – which always is establishing a group of people on top of it all  (in communism, capitalism and whatever -ism) – alive.

Well, yes, some people are feeling well when being responsible for societies while others are not. But at the same time it still happens that figures like terrorism, poverty or hate are used to explain the world – although terrorism can be dispersed, poverty can be neutralized and hate can be moderated.

Like in many centuries before, things will take time and haters from all sides need to be silenced by more inspired, more inventive, more progressive and more convincing voices.

Why intelligence remains to be a difficult term

There are many processes in the world that even the most intelligent and educated people do not understand. Life on earth will remain to be subject to transformation and change. Things that we took for granted yesterday will disappear over time. New societal structures will be established and new technologies will arise. It is not clear to what degree human intelligence can influence these changes and transformations.

A human mind will always be subject to its environment and will probably never be able to act independently from the information that creates and establishes its neuronal brain infrastructure (although cognitive approaches of the mind in itself may be strong enough to initiate self-reconfiguration). But as a very clear matter of fact people cannot act independently from their brain infrastructure – no matter where in society they are located or situated.

So, isn’t it confusing that we always think that every step or action of us is done or taken willingly, consciously – while at the same time we almost have no influence on the way our brains are programmed (neuronally wired) in the first years of our lifes? The brain is eating the information it gets. What – later in our lifes – becomes our character is created by the accidental words, situations, parents, teachers, the humans that are surrounding us and so forth; simply the information that our senses perceive in order to wire the cerebral infrastructure in our brains.

Performance

We do not know how many of our actions are planned or developed by ourselves and how much of it all is just a result of automated brain processes which create our actions on the basis of the information our brains have eaten over our lifetimes (including the life of our anchestors and the information they received and the information they have transferred to us).

And maybe they have transferred only a tiny bit of their knowledge and maybe the situation here on planet earth has considerably changed from then to now. And maybe a cognitive tradition of handing over information and experiences to a next generation changes to an emotional tradition of storytelling or a psychotherapeutical way of understanding – which means that things can be understood in a completely different way and that hate can be formed and created from a certain figuration of understanding and life that has not contained any hate before.

This is also the reason why some structures simply do not perform in the way they were intended to: they operate below the level of reconfiguration that is needed to achieve the next intellectual stage of developement. (in a sufficient neuronally connective / connectual way of performance). Many scientists – male and female – only observe their ideas in the temporal nearfield of their own random perception instead of accepting contrary imaginations or analyses as a part of the genuine scientific process.

And now think of society: Probably 80 percent of everything that happens – of everything we create and of everything we do, is a result of automated brain-based processings that we do not influence at all. Our human brains probably have a much better capability to consciously analyze the things we perceive than to consciously create them.

Think of yourself being angry about something, think of yourself yelling at someone. Probably up to 80 percent of your anger or your yelling is a result of a wiring of your brain that you had no influence on at all.

Human, serious, thinking

The informational brain infrastructure is probably defining almost everything what a human being can think, develop or express. Thus, every human vector in society is subject to biology, information, perception and intellectual finiteness and evolution is probably much more relevant to our lifes – as a basic informational process of reconfiguration – than we think.

We are very closely related to the informational structures in our brains. – It may be a very open perceptive system, so that some people are able to adopt and adapt to new information very fast (while others are not). But finally we as organic structures are still subject to permanent evolution which also – through us – is reconfiguring matter (we call it „technology“ > plastics, silicon, ores and so on) and societal interrelations and interdependencies and this way: future.

A human-like AI on planet earth exploring possibilities

cognition

[updated: April 2018]

Cognition is not an easy process, it is looking for and taking into account many different parameters. But one thing is for sure: real cognition will not develop itself on the basis of mediocre intelligences because it is not the average of intelligence in a certain amount of human beings..

In many ways the world in 2016 or 2018  is filled with mediocre intelligences. And the average IQ in a society is not what is called cognition. Cognition is an ability that only appears in societies that have established a creative framework of thinking. In all societies people have cognitive talents but only in scientifically oriented societies real cognition is an everyday part of the societal development.

Even powerful secret societies or intelligences are obviously having a problem to attract new and creative intelligent people – if this wasn’t true the world wouldn’t be this much out of control. This is indicating that some countries or societies are losing the status of a “cognitive society”. Only in cognitive societies things like social welfare, social care or human rights have a future. Other societies cannot uphold such a status because their econonomical and cognitive status is too low and this leads to crime, violence or huge differences in the quality of life among people.

In time and regarding civilizing processes cognition has always been a reliable partner – a partner to every new creative city, to every new inspired concept and a relevant contribution to the further development of equality.

In 2016, 2017 and 2018 this all seems to come to a temporary and transitory end. Intellectual concepts tend to fight against each other instead of talking with each other. This seems to be a sort of a test: How far can intelligence among humans go before it starts to hate itself and to fight against itself.

We had evolutionary tests like this before: People were fighting on the basis of their supercreative and superintellectual ideas in order to gain social awareness for everyone. Today we simply begin to ignore some intelligent parts of society because of newly developed ideologies that are not aware of the overall processes.

Instead, people begin to follow medieval or even older concepts that are relevant but that cannot uphold civilisational concepts like social care or social welfare. They’re fighting for a status that will set millions of people all over the planet off from even basic human solicitude. They’re beginning to devide humans into sexes, races and cultures and they are not willing to grant every human being a dignity or the freedom to develop his or her life freely on the basis of his or her individual perspectives. They’re achieving the complete opposite of what they are longing for. Factually, this is or can be the end of democracy and civilization.

At the same time these people think, that they are progressive and they call other people who don’t share their opinions racist and sexist although they are the most racist and sexist people on the planet. They copy the strategies of fascists and name themselves future-oriented but they make the world a bad and evil place because they are not able to cognitively understand that people are people and that each individual person has the right to speak for him- or herself and that ideology is probably THE basis for almost EVERY dead human being in history that died through the application of violence. They set female and male people in a state to hate each other because of their sex and because of their gender. And as because female and male human beings are only forming what we call humankind through their unification this is a fight against humankind as such.

In almost every society or religion on the planet (in Europe, early America, India, Africa, Sumer, Akkad, China or Tenochtitlan) a concept like this – a concept that is strongly connected to the destruction of life – was always connected to the idea of a superdestructive and life-hating entity, such as the devil. Thus, we have to ask ourselves if our actions are pro or against life and which goals we want to achieve with what we do or what we fight for.

We are able to reconfigure minds and media and everything on the basis of cognition and intelligence. We can sever the abuse of power very simply. At the same time we see a great potential in those who are following their inspired ideas regarding the future of society.

It remains to be a very important political purpose to support new ideas and spaces. But at the same time we should be courageous enough to say STOP to every organized entity or organization that believes it is promoting humaneness or dignity but is not.

The difficulty is that different organized entities/organizations believe that they are fighting for the benefit of humankind. At the same time many people who are connected with such organizations are fed with hate speech permanently. And this is true for people that follow extremist communicators from the radical left and from the radical right. Thus, groups or crowds or masses happen to being set against each other although they probably never would have agreed on a development like this if they would have known what they are participating in.

If people would understand the whole basic design of evolution in which the diametrically opposed status in a society is apparently the most progressive concept they would probably act and behave differently.

The world feels to be random in many ways. And a reason for this seeming randomness might be the evolutionary algorithm that almost no one of us is taking into account when analyzing contemporary developments.

When we created signs and writing about 6000+ years ago, when we created diplomacy about 15000+ years ago, when we created philosophy about 4500+ years ago – we were always trying to tell people that this life is not the end. We were trying to tell people that the future of society will always be able to be in our past and in our present and that all the things that have been thought will always remain to be a part of everything cognitive. The question today is if we can keep this promise or if we have to let our civilizations vanish in time like so many others before.

– – –

When you for example observe the contemporary political developments between the UK, Russia, the US, the EU reagrding Syria you totally understand that these developments are not even on a low level or in any way progressive. These are medieval and antiquated developments. And in the face of machine intelligence you begin to sense something regarding the future of human intelligences in general.

[UPDATE, July 2018: This process has received a useful upgrade, based on a better international cooperation that is beginning to address the relevant issues more precisely.]

It is a matter of fact that some beings that “own” half of the world are not able to come up with something creative anymore. Even their made up conflicts are superboring. This is a very relevant indicator for the overall intelligence of evolution. It means that either humankind as a species is becoming irrelevant or that there are maybe some inspired people on the planet who can carry the idea of creation further in a relevant way. Or not.
